Richard Barrett becomes a member of a group of fanatical assassinsand learns that his boss, Tremayne, is an intended victim. |
 |
When world leaders are assassinated in a series of daring killings, Tremayne (ANTHONY NICHOLLS), the head of Nemesis, is convinced that the murderers are a group of dedicated fanatics, each of them willing to kill and be killed. There is every reason to believe that the group are trying to enlist Roger Carson (DAVID BURKE), who is in prison for releasing Top Secret information. They have already tried to help him escape from jail. But they have no idea what he looks like now: after a car crash, plastic surgery has given him completely new features. This is an opportunity for Richard Barrett (WILLIAM GAUNT) to take the traitors place in jail and await the next rescue attempt. The plan works. Carson is rescued while being moved to another prison, and Richard is taken to a country home and kept under guard in a cellar by the leaders of the group: Croft (GERALD HARPER), Anderson (JULIAN GLOVER) and Krasner (DAVID MORRELL). Richard succeeds in escaping from the cellar and in contacting Nemesis. He then faces up to Croft and is accepted as the real Roger Carson. And he learns that the aim of the fanatical group is to take over world power. Left alone, Richard comes face to face with Roger Carson, who has escaped from jail, but overcomes him in a fight. And when Craig Stirling (STUART DAMON) and Sharron Macready (ALEXANDRA BASTEDO) arrive, the three of them succeed in finding evidence that the next important person to be assassinated is none other than their own boss, Tremayne. Tremayne is now at an official reception in London and this, the Champions guess, is where Croft and his colleagues have gone. Somehow, the Champions have got to get the London before the unsuspecting Tremayne can meet with the same fate as so many of the others on the Fanatics list... |
